Stacy Gober Receives Gary E. Reeser Memorial Award

The Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials (PASBO) is pleased to congratulate Stacy M. Gober, PCSBA, SFO, Chief Financial Officer and Board Secretary at Bethlehem Area School District as the 2021 recipient of PASBO's prestigious Gary E. Reeser Memorial Award.

The Gary E. Reeser Memorial Award is PASBO's highest honor and is given annually to a member or members who are selected on the basis of their professionalism, their superior job performance, their development of innovative ideas and their contributions to the profession of school business management. Gober is the 58th recipient of the award that was created in 1977, following the tragic death of Gary Reeser, Deputy Executive Director of the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit and PASBO Vice President at the time of his death.

Gober was nominated for this honor by her colleagues, and she was selected as the 2021 recipient because she is the embodiment of the award. According to Dr. Wayne McCullough, PASBO executive director, “I have known Stacy for over 30 years and have worked side by side with her on PASBO committees, boards, and numerous projects.  Stacy is the epitome of the Gary E. Reeser Memorial Award, representing the dedicated and ethical school business officials across our Commonwealth.  Stacy's outstanding career in school business is an example for all of us.”

Gober is a long-term and dedicated PASBO member, having served as president in 2011-12, after serving on many PASBO committees. She has also served as a Trustee of the Pennsylvania School District Liquid Asset Fund (PSDLAF) for the past seven years and currently chairs the PSDLAF Operations Committee. She has also been a Trustee of the Pennsylvania Trust since 2015 and currently serves as Vice-Chair where she her expertise has improved the stop loss and prescription drug programs of the Trust.

On a local level, Gober has been a member of the Lehigh Valley School Business Officials regional chapter since 1993 and served as President in 2005-2006.  She is actively involved in working with local government officials to stimulate the local economy. In 2016, Gober received the designation of the Lehigh Valley Business Non-Profit CFO of the year.  She has also partnered with local small businesses to provide pro-bono feedback on their budgets.
