Rev. Kevin Lamár Peterman is an outstanding alumni of the class of 2011. Although he has attended numerous universities since leaving high school, Kevin sees Liberty as a truly unique place.

“It is an institution filled with spirit and tradition, in which the diverse student body is it’s greatest asset.” After being significantly involved in student life at Liberty, Kevin went on to receive his Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from Howard University. Kevin noted this accomplishment as his proudest moment, due to being a first generation college graduate. He continued his academic pursuits at Princeton University, earning a Masters in Theology, and a Masters in Higher Education at the University of Pennsylvania. Kevin is currently a Ph.D. candidate of education at Howard University. In addition to his extensive academic pursuits, Kevin has served as Associate Pastor at Shiloh Baptist Church of Washington, DC and worked as a Research Specialist with the United Negro College Fund. When asked about why he is so passionate about education and his faith, Kevin responded, “Education and faith are the Tigris and the Euphrates of liberation; twin rivers at the source of a people’s advancement. I simply love helping people and watching them succeed in every way imaginable.” In addition, Kevin serves his community in the NAACP and as a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
